Dr. Avanti’s Almond Butter Oatmeal

a bowl of oatmeal rests on a table, topped with almonds, hazelnuts, raisins, and dried fruits. Scattered around are more nuts, raisins, fruits, and oatmeal flakes. A spoon rest nearby on a woven cloth. The colors are natural and earthy.

Oatmeal is an easy breakfast to make when you’re in a hurry.  By adding almond butter, you not only get added fiber and flavor, but you also get protein and healthy fats to fuel you all morning. This is my go-to breakfast a few times a week—especially when temperatures are below zero temperatures in Chicago.

According to Ayurveda, the qualities of oats are sweet, warm, heavy, and moist.  Thus, they counter-balance symptoms caused by increased air/space (Vata) and symptoms caused by increased fire/water (Pitta).

This quick and delicious breakfast is ready in 10 minutes or less.
