Spring Reset: Declutter, Reflect, and Start Fresh

A woman in soft loungewear opens white curtains to let sunlight into a bright, modern room. The moment captures a fresh start, symbolizing spring cleaning and renewal, with natural light pouring in and a Matisse print visible on the wall.

This is the perfect moment for a little “spring cleaning”—but not just the kind with dustpans and garbage bags. In Ayurveda, cleansing goes much deeper. It’s not just about what we clear from our closets—it’s about what we clear from our bodies, minds, and hearts, too.

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach here. Spring rituals can look different for everyone, and that’s exactly the point. What matters is making space—whatever that means for you—so your energy can move more freely and you can feel more aligned with the season of growth.

To give you a few ideas, I asked my team to share their spring rituals—what helps them reset, recharge, and reconnect. Maybe one will spark something for you. Maybe not. Take what resonates, and leave the rest.

A South Asian woman, Dr. Avanti, smiles at the camera with a warm gaze. She's wearing earrings and her wavy hair is cropped short around her ears.

Dr. Avanti
Start with de-cluttering your mind.

The clutter that shows up in your exterior world doesn’t start on your desk or in your closet. The external clutter that shows up in your life starts inside you… inside your mind and in your thoughts and beliefs.

That’s why I start with the mirrors in my home for spring cleaning. It’s a symbolic choice—a way to literally and metaphorically see myself more clearly. From there, I continue to let go, room by room, layer by layer.

For clearing out the mental clutter, I use The Five Minute Journal* by Intelligent Change every day. It’s a simple but powerful practice that helps me focus my mind, set intentions for the day, and stay grounded in gratitude.

And if you want a deep dive, you can do a complete seasonal cleanse with my 3-Day Energy Reset. I do this reset at each seasonal transition to reboot my internal clock and clear out toxins to support immunity, digestion, and energy.

A light brown woman wearing a blue shirt smiles gently at the camera. Her dark hair is worn down and there's a blue pattern behind her.

Jackie:

Flush out stagnant air and energy.

The first thing I like to do is open up the windows and doors throughout my house to let the fresh air inside. The windows and doors have been closed all winter long, so it feels nice to let the spring breeze in and clean up the stagnant air.

I start with one room at a time (because I get distracted very easily), and I bring all the cleaning supplies I will need:

  • Two giant plastic bags, one for garbage and one for donations

  • A storage container to place seasonal items away for next time

  • Vacuum

  • Cleaning solution & paper towels

Once I am done cleaning and organizing, I like to rearrange the layout of the room to make it feel refreshed and new. This is definitely one of my favorite parts as I get to express myself and redecorate!

A white woman holding a mug smiles directly at the camera. Her light brown hair is wavy and she's wearing red glasses.

Ruth:

Pick one place to refresh.

I love the idea of spring cleaning, but I get overwhelmed by the idea of making it happen. Instead of deep cleaning my whole home, I pick one place to refresh and renew. Last year, I did a kitchen deep clean and organization.

This year, it’s my office. I painted the walls dragonfruit pink—a bold color to match my joy for the world around me. I recently added a fun snake rug, and I’m working to get the rest of my art on the walls. I love buying vibrant prints and art from friends. My office is also a place I relax in the evening to watch shows (which I love to review), so I’m navigating the dual purpose of the space. Before summer comes, I hope to have new curtains that fit the vibe better.

Having a private space of my own is deeply important to me. It’s so much easier for me to work and relax when I enjoy the space that I’m in, so I’ve learned to make that a priority over the years. Since I spend many hours in my office, I’m motivated to make it reflect who I am.

Spring cleaning doesn’t have to mean a total life overhaul. It can be as simple as opening a window, wiping down a mirror, or taking five minutes to journal. The key is to create a sense of spaciousness—so you can move more freely and breathe more deeply.

What kind of “clutter” are you ready to release this season? What would it feel like to make space—not just in your home, but in your mind and your heart?

Start small. Trust the process. And remember—just like nature, your energy knows how to bloom again.

Be well,
